OH…NO…
Well, its official. I’ve seen a fair amount at weddings from small things that go wrong like schedules getting off and now to a torn wedding dress!
Let’s set the scene… It’s a Saturday afternoon and you, the bride, are getting ready for your big ceremony to be married to your husband! The venue is a gorgeous old library building with amazing natural light and stunning historical elements.
After getting your makeup done and doing a couple of getting ready photos, you have your mom help you to get into your gorgeous wedding dress. After getting ready and beginning with some simple photos of dress details, you find a 4” GASH IN THE LACE OF YOUR DRESS at its base.
NOW WHAT!?
It’s likely obvious but this blog about you is a real scenario for another bride. She had several options, of course. She could react negatively about this, allowing it to ruin the rest of the day. She could also respond negatively in away that is understanding but leaving a desire for the issue to be resolved. She could also push it off as if it isn’t as big of a deal as it is…And so on…
This bride reacted calmy, albeit with a bit of shock at first. She hadn’t even had the dress on during the day yet and it already had an issue. Regardless, she remained calm and we ended up finding someone with a sowing kit that was able to repair the dress before the ceremony.
As we conclude this story, you should take not that this blog is about you, not just this particular bride. The question is one of how you will approach issues that come up on your big day. How you choose to be calm in the face of issues is a huge part of a wedding day. Things are bound to go wrong; you should expect it. It is how you choose to respond to those issues that will define how your wedding day turns out.
Did anyone else ever know?? Absolutely not. There were maybe six people who knew prior to the ceremony that the dress was torn. No one noticed, and if they did, I guarantee you that they didn’t dare say anything about it.
As you plan your big day, and worry about all of the vendors you choose and the details that define the character, pace, and setting for your wedding, rest easy knowing that everything will be just as it should! Be ready for anything, and have an attitude that nothing can stop the immense amount of joy that comes with marrying the love of your life!
